Check Out Our Custom Framing Treatment Options

When framing fine art and photographic prints, we provide the following options:

Handmade in SoHo

Tribeca Printworks has elevated the practice of custom framing by bringing all steps of the process in-house. Every frame is hand-cut, dovetail jointed and finished right here in the heart of SoHo by our Master Craftsmen. Because we make every part of our fine art giclee and canvas frames to order under one roof, we are able to easily meet your needs for odd sizes and tight deadlines. We go big, and we do it fast!

Once the hand-finished frames leave the wood shop, all framing materials are carefully cut in the adjacent hybrid production space by our Master Framer. Your prints and original works are handled and framed with the utmost care to create an immaculate one-of-a-kind piece, every time. We’ll even help arrange delivery and recommend an installer.

Custom Framing Treatment Options

Straight Fit

Print is trimmed to full bleed, backed with acid free foam core and framed directly under non-glare acrylic. Available in all frames.

Add extra dimension to your frame by adding 2″ of 4-ply acid-free archival rag matting. The matting is in addition to your original image size: e.g. a 16×20 print with a 2″ mat becomes ~20×24 frame. Available in all frames.

Museum Float

Framed in our Shadow Box mouldings, the print has a hand torn deckled edge and is raise-mounted and inset for an elegant floating effect. Available in select frames.

Modern Float

Print is trimmed to full bleed and float-mounted to acid-free foam core on archival white backing. There is a 1″ reveal between print edge and frame for a sleek floating effect. Available in select frames.

Add extra dimension to your frame by adding 2″ or 3″ of 8-ply acid-free archival rag matting. 8-ply is double the thickness of standard 4-ply matting, providing depth and elegance. The matting is in addition to your original image size. Available in all frames.

Gallery Mount

Great for that picture-perfect shot and artwork alike, this treatment transforms your print into an object on display. Print is trimmed to full bleed, mounted to archival backing board and overlaid with 8-ply museum matting, leaving a 1/4″ reveal of the backing and finally set back in the frame with spacers for maximum depth.

Floater Frame

Available for Stretched-Canvas, Acrylic Face Mount, and HD Aluminum. The Floater Frame is solid wood with a black or white matte gesso finish. Artwork sits flush with 5/16″ wide face and spaced 1/4″ from frame edge to create “floating” effect. Sits 1-3/4″ from wall.

3″ Mat and Frame

Add extra dimension to your frame by adding 3″ of 4-ply acid-free archival rag matting. The matting is in addition to your original image size: e.g. a 16×20 print with a 3″ mat becomes ~22×26 frame. Available in all frames.

The print is set-back 1/2” from the glass, but in this variation an additional 2” margin is added to the print size selected. This additional border is optimal for signing the print or simply to let your image “breathe.”

Our black gallery frame is solid wood with a painted black matte finish – this industry standard has a 3/4” face width and sits 1-1/8” from the wall. Made in Italy.

What Is Custom Art & Print Framing?

Have you ever purchased a ready-made custom frame from a craft supply or home decor store? Then you know the frustration of trying to fit your odd-sized photo, print or artwork into a pre-determined size that makes no sense. You’ve seen the limitations when it comes to how the art is displayed within the frame. Custom art and print framing is exactly what it says: custom! The frame and all associated materials have been custom-cut to exactly fit just your piece, and the options to display the art are almost limitless. But we also understand how daunting it can be to visit a high-end frame shop; the pricing is confusing and the lead time can be weeks.

We found a solution! By bringing everything under one roof in downtown Manhattan, we have streamlined the custom framing process and eliminated the need for a frustrating trip to the frame shop. Because everything is built in-house, we can offer fine art custom picture framing in New York City at a fragment of the cost in a fraction of the time! Choose from our line of Contemporary Gallery Frames, Shadow Boxes, Floater Frames, and Weathered Finishes. Bring your piece to life by matching your chosen frame with one of our Custom Framing Treatments. Best of all, you can do your custom framing online.

Why Choose Custom Framing Treatments?

Standard-sized frames typically come in either 4×6″, 5×7″, 8×10″, 11×14″, 16×20″ or 20×24″ sizes. If your pictures don’t fit those ready-made measurements, you won’t be able to find a frame in a typical store.

With our online and in-store custom framing options, we’ll help you match your frame to any style, size and specification to complement your artwork. Professional artists, museums, galleries and even hobby photographers will be able to display framed prints with a perfect fit.

Along with the aesthetic benefits, fine art photo frames also ensure your valuable prints are preserved and protected for many years to come.

How to Choose a Custom Frame for Your Artwork

From giclee mounted prints in a custom gallery frame to face mounts in floater frames, there are endless types of frames that we can help you customize online. We carry many different frames, moulding, glass and fixture options for you to select from so you can find something that fits your tastes.

To narrow down your options, start by evaluating your style and budget needs. Is your style more classic or contemporary? Certain frame and moulding combinations will create different looks. Lighter woods, for example, tend to be more casual than darker, bolder shades.

If you have any questions or need some guidance, we are here for you. Just let us know how we can help.
